About Us

The Hay Exchange Legacy

With more than 20,000 square-feet of warehouse and retail space under one roof and a wide selection of outdoor products on display, The Hay Exchange not only feeds hay to your horses; it feeds your lifestyle. From equine care to dog and cat, bird and small animal products, tack and stable accessories to outdoor cooking, and gift items, The Hay Exchange offers More for You and More for Your Animals every day.

In 1995, The Hay Exchange first opened its doors as a wholesale distributor of hay, catering to the needs of Florida’s feed stores and providing high-quality hays to Florida’s largest animal-related entertainment attractions.

News of The Hay Exchange’s reputation for top-rated hay spread quickly. The warehouse expanded and transitioned into a retail destination, offering hay and other equine care products to local farms and stables while the company continued to service other wholesale clients.

In 2001, The Hay Exchange launched Stampede Premium, its own private-label brand of premium hay cubes, bedding and horse care products. These products are currently available at The Hay Exchange and other dealers of equine products across the southeast, Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

Currently, The Hay Exchange has plans for significant growth and expansion offering additional products for farms and animal owners.  In addition, a variety of products appealing to your outdoor interests and lifestyle will be added with the construction of a new store to be erected adjacent to the current location.  Customers can expect to see more items for; outdoor kitchens, off-road sport and utility vehicles, hunting, fishing and camping enthusiasts offering the best in performance.  These products will accompanied by The Hay Exchange’s personal service and assistance in selecting the product best suited for your lifestyle.

The Hay Exchange Team

Hay Exchange management team

Founder and owner, Bill Glisson, was born with the hay business in his blood. His father started working in a Sebring, Florida, feed store in 1938, delivering hay and other feeds in wagons, and he was so successful that he was able to purchase the store just nine years later. Bill grew up working alongside his father, expanding his responsibilities over the years to learn every aspect of the feed store business.

Through hard work, dedication and a commitment to customer satisfaction, the Glisson name soon became synonymous with the best in agriculture and farming in Central Florida.

Bill founded the Hay Exchange in 1995, and today, the Plant City, Florida-based operation continues to be a family-oriented business, with family members Michael, Cody and Dillon working with him on-site and his wife Rhonda and daughter Joanna providing constant support.

The Hay Exchange’s team members are very much a part of the extended Glisson family. Unlike some corporate businesses, The Hay Exchange understands their people are their greatest strength. They genuinely enjoy meeting new visitors to the store and seeing long-standing customers and friends who often share stories about their experiences with pets, animals and outdoor adventures.
